Master of Arts in Theology

Faculty

Rev. Dr. Richard Christensen, Reinhard Ulrich Associate Professor of Christian Thought, and Associate Professor of Religion, Rev. Dr. Karl Kuhn, are full time, tenured, Lakeland College faculty. Their experience in both teaching and serving the wider church community make them well-qualified to offer courses in Bible, Church History, and Theology.

After earning his M.Div. degree from Lancaster Theological Seminary in 1970, Dr. Christensen served for 14 years as a parish pastor, and 3 years as a missionary teacher in Botswana along with his wife, Lainie. He earned his Ph.D. in Church History from Union Theological Seminary in Richmond, Virginia, in 1992, taught at Phillips Theological Seminary in Tulsa, Oklahoma, from 1992-1998, and has taught at Lakeland since the summer of 1998. He is the author or editor of three books and more than 20 articles in journals such as Interpretation, Journal of Presbyterian History, Prism, Affirmation, Religion and Education, and The Christian Century.

Dr. Karl Kuhn earned his M.Div. from Eden Theological Seminary in 1994, and served as an Associate Pastor for a year before beginning his doctoral program in biblical studies at Marquette University in 1995, which he completed in 1999. Rev. Kuhn has taught at Lakeland since the fall of 1999 and has served as an interim pastor for several area churches. He has published two books, Having Words with God and The Heart of Biblical Narrative, as well as articles in several scholarly journals.

Both Dr. Christensen and Dr. Kuhn frequently speak and lecture in area churches and at denominational events, and have published extensively in their respective fields. Their expertise is supplemented by several highly qualified, adjunct faculty who teach courses in their specialized areas.
