Lakeland College's Central Wisconsin Center is introducing two of its graduate programs in Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield this fall.

Lakeland's master of arts in counseling will debut in Wisconsin Rapids, and Lakeland's master of business administration will debut in Marshfield. Classes begin on Sept. 5, 2006.

Lakeland courses are conveniently offered at Mid-State Technical College's Wisconsin Rapids and Marshfield campuses.

Lakeland's MBA program is designed with the working adult in mind, providing a broad-based professional education consisting of post-graduate coursework that integrates research, case studies, technology and other learning processes.

The objectives include an understanding of business and economic problems, and the development and refinement of managerial skills to address these problems in the context of an ethical and global workplace. Two additional MBA degrees are also available: an MBA with a concentration in accounting, and an MBA with a concentration in finance.

Full-time students can complete Lakeland's MBA in less than two years and part-time students can complete their programs in three to five years without compromising typical work schedules. MBA are offered in the evenings, online and BlendEd, Lakeland's unique combination of traditional and online coursework.

The counseling degree is a 42 semester-hour program designed to provide highly trained and caring professionals for PK-12 school counseling, community counseling and/or higher education settings.

The program consists of core courses which provide the basic knowledge and skills necessary to perform effectively in any of the three emphases. Each student will also receive specialized training in his or her area of emphasis by experienced faculty.

The culminating educational experience for all students includes one 3-semester-hour field work experience and two 5 semester-hour practicum experiences which provide hands-on opportunities for application of knowledge and skills.

Lakeland's counseling degree is approved by the Wisconsin Department of Public Instruction and the Wisconsin Educational Approval Board, and is fully accredited by the North Central Association of Colleges and Schools.
