- ABOUT LAKELAND
You've gotten the phone call, talked with our student callers, and maybe even made a pledge. We thank you! The 2007 alumni phonathon was a successful one, much like those in the past. In only two short weeks, our students called all of Lakeland's nearly 12,000 alumni to verify contact information and ask for their financial support of the college.
Each fall, Lakeland students are hired to take on the challenging role of calling alumni to "ask for money," but in reality there is so much more to it! The students look forward to speaking with alumni about their time at Lakeland, hearing stories from alumni about what they remember about their professors, and offering some insight about the changes happening on campus. Lakeland relies heavily on alumni support during the phonathon, as this is a major contributor to student scholarships, academic and extracurricular programs, and maintenance of this beautiful campus.
The reasons alumni choose to give to the college are as different as they are. Some want to give because they loved their fraternity, others because they got a great job after graduating, and others still because they simply liked the campus. It is also important to note that the reasons students choose to call are just as vast. Their reasons are things like they have benefited from the support of alumni in the past, perhaps they simply like hearing alumni stories, of course some need the paycheck, but most make these calls out of sincere loyalty to their school.
For those that made pledges this year, we thank you and look forward to your gift. If you did not hear from one of our students, or have since changed your mind about giving to Lakeland please visit https://www.lakeland.edu/Giving/WaysToGive/makeagift.asp to participate in this year's Annual Fund. We hope we can count on your support now and in the future. Go Muskies!
