Choir and Volleyball hit the Road

Alumni Association - posted on 3/25/2008

With the arrival of spring comes time to travel, and Lakeland students are doing just that. While most college students prefer to spend spring break in Cancun or Palm Beach, Lakeland students are taking time this spring to share their talents with alumni, friends, and community members across the country.

Men's Volleyball

The men's volleyball team heads to Dallas, TX April 10-12 to compete in the 2008 NIRSA National Tournament at the Dallas Convention Center. As of late March, Lakeland is ranked 4th in the national poll, so this should make for a very exciting contest. Last year, Lakeland lost in the final game of the national championship, but they are hopeful for a successful run this year. Having support in the stands will certainly make a difference to the players.

On Thursday and Friday, the team will play three games either at 8:00, 10:00, and 12:00 or at 9:00, 11:00, and 1:00. On Saturday, the single elimination championship bracket begins at 9:00 a.m. with a 7:00 p.m. national championship match, and hopefully Lakeland can make it to that exciting game. A daily $2 fee, payable at the door, gives you entry into the tournament for the entire day.

Anyone in the area can meet the team at a barbeque hosted by Dick Ensweiler `63 at his home. Join the team, coaches, parents, and other alumni on the evening of April 10 at 6:00 p.m. for the Texas-style backyard barbeque. If you plan to attend the barbeque please email us at vihoslb@lakeland.edu with your name, address, email address, phone number and the number of people in your party.

Choir Tour

The Lakeland College Choir will tour Wisconsin from April 3 through April 6, with concert stops at churches in Eau Claire, Green Bay, Waupun, New Holstein, and culminating with a concert on main campus at 3:30 p.m. on Sunday, April 6 in the Bradley Fine Arts Building. Come to hear beautiful music, see old friends, and meet the choir.

All concerts are open to the public and free, with good will offering accepted. For times, please call ahead to the individual church.
