Charmaine Jankowski, a 2003 graduate of the Kellett School with a B.A. in Marketing and Business Administration, has been named Lakeland College's new Assistant Director of Alumni Relations.
She comes to Lakeland from the West Bend Chamber of Commerce where she has worked since 2006 overseeing the membership database, managing day-to-day financials, and planning, marketing, and coordinating major events like the Chamber Golf Outing, the Home Improvement Expo, and the highly successful Geocaching Cache Bash, which recently brought close to 400 people from all over the country into the West Bend area.
Prior to her work at the Chamber, Jankowski worked as an administrative assistant in the Manufacturing Systems Engineering Program at UW-Madison and before that, as a Program Assistant in the Office of the Chancellor at UW-Oshkosh. Currently, Jankowski is working on her MA in Counseling with a Higher Education emphasis through the Kellett School.
Jankowski said she was attracted to the position because of her rewarding Lakeland experience as an online student and also because of her desire to get back into a higher education setting.
"I am thrilled to be joining the Lakeland College team and especially look forward to building relationships with alumni around the globe," Jankowski said. "Lakeland provided me with an excellent education and the tools to open up doors and be successful in my career. When I was completing my degree I never thought I would be part of the Alumni team, but the door has opened and I'm excited to embark on this journey."
As the Assistant Director of Alumni Relations, Jankowski will work with Lisa Vihos, Director of Alumni Relations, on the planning and implementation of a wide array of alumni offerings including educational and networking events as well as fundraising projects such as the Annual Fund Phonathon, the Blasters Golf Tournament, and the Gala. Together, they will work closely with the Lakeland College Alumni Association Board of Directors.
"With Charmaine's excellent experience in event planning, marketing, and database management, she is going to be a great asset to the alumni office," said Vihos. "She will help us continue our high level of current offerings to alumni and contribute to the development of new initiatives such as reaching out to our Kellett and international constituencies, as well as planning for the college's Sesquicentennial celebration in 2012."
