Alumni Association - posted on 9/29/2008

Lakeland College is in full Homecoming mode this week as both the student body and alumni are gearing up for this weekend's big celebration.

Lakeland's current students will get things started with daily activities, including a window painting contest in the Pub, team relay races, a performance by the country/rock band 32 Below on Tuesday night and a trivia competition. The annual Mr. Muskie contest is set for 8:30 p.m. on Thursday in the Bradley Building, and a pep rally will be held on Friday at 8 p.m. (or immediately following the volleyball match) in the Wehr Center Fieldhouse.

Alumni get into the swing of things on Friday. The reunion classes will hold a champagne reception Friday afternoon, followed by a dinner for the class of 1958. A 1950s Sock Hop will be held in the Pub beginning at 8 p.m. The Athletic Hall of Fame induction banquet is set for 5:30 p.m.

Saturday begins with the Homecoming 5K Fun Run/Walk at 9 a.m. at the Wehr Center. A panel discussion, "Countdown to Election 2008," moderated by former State Sen. Cal Potter `68, will begin at 10 a.m. in Laun 209.

A tailgate party will be held in the Laun Center parking lot from 11 a.m.-1 p.m., followed by the football game against Rockford at 1 p.m., and the volleyball match against Concordia Chicago at 2 p.m. The 2008 Homecoming Court will be introduced at halftime of the football game, and alumni will gather for the parade of classes and the all alumni photo.

The Alumni Awards & Reunion reception begins at 5:30 p.m. in Laun 209, followed by the banquet in Bossard Hall at 6:30 p.m.

Homecoming Weekend wraps up Sunday morning with coffee and fellowship in the lower level of the Ley Chapel at 9 a.m., followed by a worship and remembrance service at 10 and brunch in Bossard Hall at 11.
