- ABOUT LAKELAND

The Blasters Golf Tournament has always been about more than just golf. It is an opportunity to connect with old friends, to celebrate Lakeland College, and to contribute to scholarships for deserving students. This year, Blasters has been revamped with a collaboration between the Alumni and Athletic Departments. The 2010 Blasters has a unique twist featuring two tournaments running simultaneously at two amazing courses:
Moose Woltzen Cup at Blackwolf Run - Kohler, WI
This tournament will feature a best ball format.
Cost: $200 per person
Mike Devaney Cup at Autumn Ridge - Valders, WI
This tournament will feature a scramble format.
Cost: $95 per person
The Blasters tournament honors two special people, Duane "Moose" Woltzen and Mike Devaney. Moose Woltzen coached men's basketball at Lakeland from 1965 until his retirement as coach and athletic director in 1988, compiling a record of 536-229 for a career winning percentage of .700. In 1978, Mike Devaney joined the Lakeland faculty and served as a professor and leader in the mathematics and computer science divisions. From 1989 to 2006, Mike coached women's tennis and was named Lake Michigan Conference Coach of the Year in 1996.
The new, expanded format will increase the numbers of golfers able to attend and also increase our ability to assist more students with scholarships than ever before. So, put together a foursome and join us for a great day! Register for this event
At the conclusion of the tournaments, all golfers and guests will gather at Lakeland's main campus for a celebration of the day with a reception, silent and live auctions, dinner, awards, and music by the Water Street Hot Shots. On-campus accommodations are available for the event.
