Career Connect - eMentoring

Lakeland College students and alumni often have questions or need additional information about possible careers. And we know that many of you have the answers.

Lakeland invites you to share your knowledge and experience by participating in its Mentor Program offered through Career Connect.

As a mentor, students and alumni will contact you for information that will help them make decisions about majors, career fields and strategies for finding employment, internships or gaining admission to graduate/professional school. You simply answer questions based on your knowledge and experience. Best of all, you pick the format that works best for you - phone calls, e-mail, in-person, etc.

Our students and alumni may be interested in learning about your day-to-day job responsibilities, what you enjoy and don't enjoy about your responsibilities or career field, your educational background or career path and any suggestions on how they might best prepare for specific career fields.

You will also be provided with other opportunities to become involved with Lakeland's Career Development as a professional partner including hands-on activities like mock interviews, networking events, panels and workshops, and opportunities to recruit students for internships and employment.

Your contact information will be made available to students and alumni through Career Connect. Students and alumni are instructed to make polite and professional contact via e-mail, phone or letter after identifying a few professionals they'd like to contact, and are provided tips for making contact with professionals.

As a mentor, you will receive regular e-mail correspondence from Lisa Stephan, Lakeland's director of career development.
