Sports Medicine
MISSION
In support of the College's primary goals of intellectual, moral and spiritual growth of its students, the mission of the Sports Medicine Department is to fashion a program founded on integrity, accountability, knowledge and understanding for the well-being of our student athletes.
Lakeland College Sports Medicine is an integral part of the LC Department of Intercollegiate Athletics. The mission of LC Sports Medicine is to maintain the health, safety, and welfare of the LC student-athlete through prevention, recognition, evaluation, referral, treatment, and rehabilitation of athletic injuries. Under the guidelines of the National Collegiate Athletic Association, the Northern Athletics Conference, and the College, LC Sports Medicine has developed an appropriate injury prevention program and provides quality athletic training services to student-athletes.
PHILOSOPHY
The LC Sports Medicine Department provides traditional athletic training services to the student-athletes of LC. These services provided to the student-athlete include:
1. Prevention of injuries.
2. Recognition, evaluation and treatment of injuries and illnesses.
3. Rehabilitation and reconditioning of injuries.
4. Health and wellness education.
Our goal is to provide the student athletes at LC with the best possible health care and knowledge available. In providing these services, the LC Sports Medicine staff will aim to utilize the most efficient and current technologies. In addition, we plan to offer a health care system that is proactive in approach, reduces the risk of athletic injury and facilitates injured student-athletes' safe return to participation as soon as possible.
FACILITIES
The Athletic Department of Lakeland College has two athletic training locations in the Wehr Center. The first is located on the West side of the Wehr Center near the weight room. The west Athletic Training Room is used primarily for outdoor sports and Wrestling. The other is located on the East side in newer portion of Wehr Center and is used primarily for indoor sports. Both training rooms are equipped with the necessary functional rehabilitation equipment to provide Muskie athletes with the quality health care that will allow them to get back in action as quickly and safely as possible.
