The Lakeland Muskies defeated Northland Baptist Bible College 99-49 on Tuesday, Nov. 29 at the Moose and Dona Woltzen Gymnasium located on the Lakeland campus. The Muskies defense held Northland Baptist to 33 percent from the field on the evening, the lowest shooting percentage by an opponent this season.

"We just wanted to be really ready to play on the defensive end," said head coach Gary Grzesk. "We wanted to make them earn all their baskets. They had three guys that were very capable of putting up very big numbers and I think (senior) Nick Howard did a good job on Drew Scott tonight."

The Muskies had five players score in double digits with senior Germayne James leading the way with 15 points. Junior David Hoerres collected 11 points on the evening, while sophomores Shane Grube and Aaron Regal both tallied 10 points, along with freshman Tumana Scott. Grube also led the Muskies defensively grabbing seven boards and registering four steals.

The Muskies, who shot 56 percent from the field, started the game on a 24-7 run and led by 28 going into the half, 51-23. The Muskies were up by as much as 57 in the game and with eight minutes remaining in the contest Grzesk started putting in the reserves. No player played more than 20 minutes on the evening for Lakeland. The Muskies finished the game with a 50 point lead.

"It is good for a lot (of our younger players) to get in and get some game experience," said Grzesk. "They have been practicing really hard and for them to be able to see the reward of getting into the game was big for a lot of the newcomers."

The Muskies will start a three game Lake Michigan Conference road swing this Saturday when they visit Edgewood for a 4:15 p.m. contest. The Muskies will return home to face Concordia River-Forest on December 17, with tip-off scheduled for 4:15 p.m.
