Women's Tennis Drops Two

The Lakeland women's tennis team dropped two matches during a triangular against Wisconsin Lutheran and Ripon at Howards Grove High School on Saturday, Oct. 1. The Muskies lost 6-3 to defending LMC champion Wisconsin Lutheran, before dropping an 8-1 decision to Ripon later in the afternoon.

Lisa Hentges defeated Melissa Bernhardt in singles play, 6-4 and 6-2 to give the Muskies their first win on the morning against Wisconsin Lutheran. Chizuru Masuda rallied after dropping the first set 7-5 to defeat Holly Kruschel 6-4 and 10-4. The Muskies also took the third and final doubles match when Natsumi Kobayashi and Brittani Kazik teamed up to knock off Holly Kruschel and Alycia Spriggs 8-6.

In the afternoon against Ripon College the Muskies did not fair as well as they did earlier in the day. Sarah Czuratis and Hentges both dropped hard fought singles matches in three sets. The lone victory in the afternoon came when Czuratis and Masuda came together for a 8-6 doubles victory over Kara Wagner and Ariella Davis.

The Muskies will play Lawrence on Wednesday, Oct. 5 at Howards Grove High School. It will mark the last home match of the season for the women's tennis team.
