The Lakeland Muskies improved to 4-4 on the season with a dominating 60-0 victory over Maranatha Baptist Bible College and a 49-3 decision against Northland Baptist Bible College on Tuesday evening. Freshman Mitch Nooyen wrestled two great matches as he recorded a pin 1:14 into the match against Maranatha and had an 8-0 major decision against Northland Baptist.
The Muskies captured their first Lake Michigan Conference victory of the season with a 60-0 victory over Maranatha Baptist. It marks the first time in Pete Rogers five years as head coach that they shutout an opponent while all wrestlers recorded a pin. Freshman Jonas Flok received one of the biggest cheers from the crowd when he pinned sophomore Spencer McClure just 32 seconds into the match.
"They all wrestled really tough tonight," said Rogers. They all went out there and did their job. It was good to see them all competing on that level. It is the first time I've ever had a shutout with all pins."
In the Northland match the Muskies recorded two pins and a major decision on their way to a 49-3 victory.
"It was a pretty exciting match," said Rogers. "They all wrestled tough. Cody (Klopp) wrestled a pretty tough guy, but he was right in the match and it was a good show."
The Muskies will travel to the University of Wisconsin-Platteville on Saturday, Dec. 10 for a dual.
