Athletics - posted on 9/18/2004
The Lakeland College Women’s tennis team lost 5-4 to host MSOE in a conference match today. MSOE defaulted two matches, giving Lakeland the early lead. After the two schools split at doubles, Lakeland needed only two of the remaining five singles matches to win. Lakeland's Lisa Hentges won handily at #1 singles, but MSOE won at #2, #3, and #5 singles, leaving the #4 singles match to determine the result of the match. Meggan Saak played well for Lakeland in that match, getting to within two points of a win, but finally losing to Amanda Wilson of MSOE 2-6, 6-4, 7-5.
Hentges was Lakeland’s top performer of the day. Winning both #1 singles and doubles for the second day in a row.
