Muskies Get Handled By Hannibal
Athletics - posted on 3/14/2006
A day after scoring 11 runs on Millikin, the Lakeland baseball team ran into the high powered offense of Hannible La Grange College in Hannible, Mo.
Lakeland fell to Hannible by a final score of 13-2, dropping their record on the season to 1-3.
Freshman pitcher Mike Phillips was welcomed to the college ranks by the Hannible bats, giving up six runs on seven hits and walked four batters in just two innings of work for the Muskies.
The Muskies had plenty of opportunities however, with the bases loaded in both the first innings and the third, but Hannible pitching would get out of the jams both times. For the game, the Muskies stranded 11 runners on base.
The lone offensive highlight for the Muskies was junior Mitch Heinemeyer who went three for three on the day with two doubles, and RBI and drew one walk.
The Muskies continue their road trip through Missouri on Wednesday, when they take on Culver-Stockton College in a doubleheader in Le Grange, Mo.
