Despite the Lakeland women's volleyball team's best efforts, they were unable to complete their bid for a comeback in the final match of the Orange and Blue Tri-Match, losing to host Wheaton College, 3-1.
For Lakeland, Leeann Hupfer scored 10 kills and 5 blocks, while Kassi Hoeppner added 6 kills, 2 blocks, and 3 digs.
Head Coach Chad Schreiber used a different line-up in each of the seven games of the triangular. "We needed to get a look at other line-ups going into the last part of the season, and we did that today," Schreiber said. "The string of conference games we are coming off has not let us experiment much. It was important we try to get some game experience for some of the depth we believe in so much."
Coach Schreiber wasn't upset that his team lost to Wheaton, because of the experience his bench received. "Despite a loss in the second match, I was very pleased with how everything came together today," he said.
The Muskies leave Wheaton with a split of their triangular matches. They return to conference play on Tuesday with a home match against Maranatha Baptist at 7:00 p.m.
