Muskies grab win over Wisconsin Lutheran

In Lake Michigan Conference action, the Muskies traveled to Milwaukee to take on the Warriors of Wisconsin Lutheran College. In a hard fought battle, the Muskies pulled out the defensive struggle 44-43.
The Warriors jumped out to the early lead at the 14:39 mark, 12-4. The Muskies would battle back and take the lead at the 4:09 mark, after a Renee Steinert hit a lay-up to put Lakeland ahead 20-18. The Muskies would take the lead into the locker room at the half, 22-20.
In the second half, the Muskies only gave up the lead once at the 14:18 mark, when the Warriors would take the lead off an Emily Laete lay-up. The Muskies would retake the lead on an Amanda Thielmann lay-up shortly thereafter. Lakeland’s lead would be cut to one in the final minute, but an offensive foul by Lutheran’s Erin Hilleshiem with .04 remaining, sealed the deal for the Muskies, as they pulled out the one point win, 44-43.
For the Muskies, Beth Porter and Renee Steinert both chipped in 12 points and two blocks in the winning effort for the Muskies. For the Warriors, Emily Laete led the way with 20 points and four rebounds.
The Muskies will next be in action on Saturday, as they travel to Milwaukee for a LMC match-up against MSOE. Game time is set for 1:00pm.
