Muskies Grab Conference Win over MSOE
Athletics - posted on 1/15/2005
After a huge conference win in Milwaukee on Tuesday night against Wisconsin Lutheran, the Muskies again traveled to Milwaukee to face another conference rival, MSOE. The Muskies would look to Senior Renee Steinert for help, and would not be disappointed, as Steinert poured home 22 points and ripped down 19 boards in the Muskies 51-42 defeat of MSOE.
Lakeland would fall behind early, but would answer back and throughout much of the first half, could not pull away from a scrappy Raider team. At the half, the Muskies had just a one point lead, 22-21.
In the second half, poor shooting continued by both teams, with both shooting around 30% for the game. The Muskies would fall behind in the second half, and the Raiders would lead by as many as five at the 8:38 mark, 30-35. But Renee Steinert and Sara Langenhorst would hit their free-throws down the stretch and the Muskies regained the lead with 3:30 left in the game. The Muskies would build that lead to nine and defeat the Raiders by that number, 51-42.
Renee Steinert’s 22 points and 19 boards were accompanied by Sara Langenhorst ho chipped in eleven points and two rebounds for the Muskies. Beth Porter added nine points and six rebounds in 23 minutes of work for the Muskies as well.
The Muskies will next face Maranatha Baptist on Tuesday night at the Todd Wehr Center on the Campus of Lakeland College. Game time is set for 7pm.
