The Lakeland women's volleyball team improved to 2-0 in the Northern Athletics Conference and 7-3 on the season with a 3-1 win over Benedictine on Thursday night in the Muskies' home opener.

The Muskies took the first two games by scores of 30-27 and 20-23, before losing game three 30-11. However, they rallied back and took game four 30-26 for the win.

"Kim Linger, after missing two games this weekend was definitely our go-to player at important times," said head coach Chad Schreiber.

Linger, a freshman middle hitter paced the Muskies with 15 kills, two blocks and .400 hitting percentage. Sophomore Jessica Sparling was also an impact player for Lakeland with 59 assists and a .286 hitting percentage which was only second on the team to  Linger. Junior Ashley Domask led the Muskies with 19 digs and had 11 kills with a .226 hitting percentage on the night.

While Schreiber was happy with the win over the Northern Athletics Conference pre-season runner-up, he still will be looking more aggressive play from his team in future action.

The Muskies return to action Saturday with a pair of home non-conference games against Northland at 11 a.m., followed by University of Wisconsin-Stout at 3 p.m.
