Muskies Drop to .500 in the NAC with Loss to Aurora

Athletics - posted on 10/4/2006

The women's volleyball team (9-9, 2-2 NAC) dropped their second consecutive Northern Athletics Conference match with a 3-1 loss to Aurora University on Wednesday night. It was the second time the Muskies had lost to Spartans within the last week.

Although the Muskies got off to a good start with a 30-27 win in game one, Aurora rebounded with a vengeance to take game two, 30-19, and gained control for the rest of the match to take the remaining two games 30-26 and 30-17.

Sophomore outside hitter Heidi Kramer led the team on offense with 12 kills and chipped in five digs, supported by freshmen Kim Linger and Brittanie Paulus who each tallied nine kills apiece.

Sophomore defensive specialist Danielle Swindell shouldered the majority of the load on defense with 19 digs, while freshman Tonia Strebelinski added 14 digs of her own.

The Muskies will look to stop their recent conference skid with a win at home on Friday, Oct. 6, against Rockford College. Game time is set for 7 p.m.
