The Lakeland men's basketball team didn't miss a beat after losing to UW-Stevens Point a night earlier as they snuck past another WIAC opponent, UW-La Crosse, 64-60, Saturday night.
Nick Zeck scored his first double-double of the season with game highs of 17 points and 12 rebounds for the Muskies. He also blocked two shots.
Junior Nick Howard scored a season high 16 for Lakeland, and Ryan Hiir rebounded after a subpar performance against the Pointers to score 12 against the Eagles.
Lakeland's defense stifled La Crosse shooters in the first half, holding them to 37 percent from the floor and opening a 31-26 advantage at halftime.
Neither team held a double digit lead in the game, with Lakeland's eight point lead with just under a minute remaining being the largest margin of the game.
The Muskies, now 2-2 on the season, will travel to Deerfield, Illinois to face Trinity International on Wednesday. That game is scheduled for a 7:30 p.m. start.
