Muskies Fall to Ripon in Non-Conference Tennis Match

The women's tennis team fell to Ripon College 0-9 in non-conference action on Wednesday in Ripon, Wis.

Lindsay Crum got the nod for play at the number-one seed singles spot, putting up a good fight in both sets before an eventual defeat with scores of 3-6 and 4-6. At the number-two seed Lisa Hentges pushed her match to three sets, claiming the first 6-4 before Ripon's Mara Evans overcame her in the second two with scores of 1-6 and 4-6.

Number three and four singles players, Cortni Jableski and Andrea Schuchart were also knocked off with scores of 0-6, 0-6 and 0-6, 1-6 respectively. The Muskies fifth and sixth seeds also struggled in singles match play, as Brittani Kuzik and Jennifer Huang were both defeated 1-6, 0-6 and 1-6, 1-6.

In doubles play, a Crum/Hentges combo were defeated 4-8 at the number one spot, while Jableski and Kuzik dropped their number two seed match by the same score. At the three spot, Schuchart and Huang went down with a score of 1-8.

The Muskies will look for their first team win of the season on Friday, September 8 against Mount Mary on their home court. Match time is set for 4:30 p.m.
