MILWAUKEE – Defensive lapses in the second half doomed the Lakeland men’s basketball team to an 83-69 Lake Michigan Conference loss at Wisconsin Lutheran Wednesday night.
The Warriors (6-8, 3-0 LMC) rallied from a 41-33 halftime deficit by scoring 50 points in the second half on 53 percent shooting, while the Muskies (5-9, 1-4) scored just 28 points in the second period on 40 percent shooting. WLC was 8-for-17 from 3-point range in the second half.
Brian Hagel led four scorers in double figures for WLC, while B.J. Miller had 19 and Kevin Christensen 16 and 13 assists.
Senior Ryan Hiir led Lakeland with 19 points, while classmate Nick Zeck had 15 points and nine rebounds and freshman Kris Saiberlich added 13 points. Lakeland won the rebound battle 40-36, but had 16 turnovers.
Lakeland returns to action Saturday at Milwaukee School of Engineering at approximately 3:15 p.m. as part of a women’s/men’s doubleheader.
