Muskies notch win, focus on LMC Tourney opener

The Lakeland College men’s basketball team wrapped up regular season play with a win Monday night and learned its Lake Michigan Conference Tournament assignment.
The Muskies completed regular season play with a 13-11 record after a 72-58 win at Northland Baptist in Dunbar. Senior Nick Zeck led the Muskies with 16 points and 19 rebounds, while senior Ryan Hiir added 15 points and freshman Kris Saiberlich scored 13. Lakeland led 42-25 at the half and limited Northland to 32 percent shooting.
Lakeland will open LMC Tournament play Thursday night at home at 7 p.m. against Marian College.
Lakeland is the No. 4 seed in the tournament, while Marian is No. 5. The winner advances to play No. 1 Edgewood, the LMC regular season champion, in the semifinals on Saturday in Madison at 3 p.m.
Thursday’s other tournament openers have No. 2 Concordia hosting No. 7 Maranatha Baptist and No. 3 Wisconsin Lutheran hosting No. 6 Milwaukee School of Engineering. The winners of those two games meet in Saturday’s other semifinal.
The tournament championship game will be held at the home of the highest remaining seed on Saturday, Feb. 26, at 3 p.m. The tournament champion advances to the NCAA Division III National Tournament. Lakeland won the tournament last season.
