Nick Zeck scored 21 points and had 13 rebounds to lead the Lakeland men’s basketball team past Marian College, 72-59, in the first round of the Lake Michigan Conference tournament Thursday night.
Danny Ehnert finished with 15 points, and Nick Howard came off the bench to score 14 for the Muskies.
After trailing 7-6 with 14:02 left in the first half, Lakeland grabbed the lead off of a lay-up by Zeck and never looked back, building a lead as large as 20 points.
David Whitenack finished with 17 points, and Titus Redmond scored 12 for Marian in the loss.
With the win, the Muskies advance to face number seeded Edgewood on Saturday at 2:00 p.m. The Eagles won both meetings this year.
