Muskies Sweep Mount Mary for First Match Win of 2006

The women's tennis team gained their first team victory on Friday, with all players winning their matches for a 9-0 result.

In singles action, number one Lindsay Crum and number two Lisa Hentges handily defeated their opponents with scores of 6-1, 6-4 and 6-1, 6-3 respectively. At the number three spot Cortni Jablenski claimed her first set easily 6-2, but ran into some trouble in the second set, narrowly winning 7-6 (8-6).

At the fourth and fifth singles spots, Andrea Schuchart and Brittani Kazik both shut out their opponents 6-0, 6-0 to take those matches. Sixth-seeded Jennifer Huang also won her match 6-1, 6-0.

Doubles matches saw Hentges paired with Jablenski at the number one seed as they won the match 8-2. At the number two and three spots, Schuchart and Kazik combined for an undefeated match at number two, while Fanny Xiong and Jenny Rivers were also undefeated for 8-0 pair of victories.

Next up for the Muskies will be Milwaukee School of Engineering on Saturday in Milwaukee, Wis. Match time is set for 10 a.m.
