Men's Volleyball Rolls Over La Crosse
Athletics - posted on 1/27/2007
The Lakeland men's volleyball team improved to 2-0 in the Wisconsin Volleyball Conference with a 3-0 sweep of UW-La Crosse on Saturday, Jan. 27, on the Muskies' home court.
The squad put the visiting Eagles away early on in match play, taking the first game 30-19, then went on to easily snag wins in the following two games (30-14, 30-16).
"This was a much more complete match than we played against Whitewater," said head coach Chad Schreiber. "Our serving did what it was supposed to, which led to us setting up our blocking better."
Senior outside hitter Matt Martin led the Muskies on offense with 10 kills, hitting 64 percent, and added five blocks and three digs on defense. Lakeland's starting middle hitters also put together a solid match, as senior Adam Plach recorded nine kills and three blocks while junior Avdo Omerbegovic had six kills on 50 percent hitting and added two blocks.
Lakeland will continue WVC match play at home on Sunday, Jan. 28, against UW-Stout. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
