Men's Soccer Drops NAC Game to Edgewood

Athletics - posted on 10/7/2006

The Lakeland men's soccer team (2-9, 2-3 NAC) was defeated by Edgewood College, 2-0, in Northern Athletics Conference action on Saturday afternoon in Madison, Wis.

The Eagles scored right off the bat in the second minute of play on a free kick by Shaun Glynn, who also scored Edgewood's other goal in the second half.

After falling behind so early in the game, the Muskies had a difficult time getting into a rhythm on offense. As a team, they were able to put only two shots on goal for the game, both coming from junior Tom Claas, compared to Edgewood's 12.

However, the squad's defensive line put forth a solid effort to keep the ball from finding its way between the posts, as junior goalkeeper Ryan Condon recorded five saves to go with five more team saves.

Within the next two weeks Lakeland will log quite a few miles on the road, as their next three games will be against NAC opponents in Illinois.

First up will be Concordia University Chicago on Tuesday, Oct. 10, followed by top conference condenders Aurora and Dominican.

Game time vs. Concordia University Chicago is set for 3:30 p.m. in River Forest, Ill.
