Aurora Offense Too Much for Men
Athletics - posted on 10/18/2006
The men's soccer team (2-11, 2-5 NAC) fell to Northern Athletics Conference opponent Aurora University, 3-1, on Wednesday, Oct. 18, in Aurora, Ill.
Although the Muskies were scored on early, sophomore midfielder Kevin Fitchett got his team on the board in the 11th minute to make the score 1-1, which stood for the remainder of the first half.
However, Aurora fought back in the second half, pounding Lakeland's back line and junior goalkeeper Ryan Condon with 21 of their 33 shot attempts for the game, giving Condon 11 saves.
As a result, the Spartans scored two more goals early on to put the game out of reach, while the Muskies were unable to tally any shots in the second half.
Next up for Lakeland will be Dominican University, currently undefeated in NAC play with one loss overall, this Saturday, Oct. 21, in River Forest, Ill. Game time is set for 12:30 p.m.
