Women's Soccer Ends Season With Loss at Benedictine
Athletics - posted on 10/27/2007
The Lakeland College women's soccer team closed out its season with a 3-0 loss to Northern Athletics Conference opponent Benedictine University on Saturday, Oct. 27, in Lisle, Ill.
The Muskies (7-12, 6-6 NAC) finished in a tie for seventh place with Marian College in the NAC standings, putting them just out of reach of that sixth and final spot they would have needed to reach in order to make the conference tournament.
It was a tough game to play for Lakeland, as the Muskies knew following Wednesday's loss to Concordia, Wis., that they would not make the NAC Tournament.
"Benedictine came out and challenged with a lot more energy," said head coach Dave Madsen. "We worked ourselves in during the second half, but by then the damage had been done. Our seniors fought hard during their last game. They are a strong class and it's hard to see them go."
