Muskies Drop Two on the Road

The Lakeland College baseball team ended their Northern Athletics Conference season with a pair of losses to Dominican University, 2-1 and 7-6, in action in River Forest, Ill. today.

The Muskies (12-22, 8-12 NAC) got on the board right away in the first inning of game one. Tyler Schmitt hit a sacrifice fly out to centerfield to send the Muskies lone run of the game in. The Stars (16-21, 10-10 NAC) finally got a run in the eighth inning to tie things up 1-1. The contest went 10 innings with the Stars putting up another hit in the bottom of the 10th inning to clinch the win.

Adam Brown paced the Muskies going 3-4 from the plate, while Adam Hablewitz went 2-4.

Kris Saiberlich gave up four hits in seven innings of work on the mound.

In game two, it was a scoreless game until the bottom of the seventh inning when the Stars got on board with seven runs. The Muskies responded in the top eighth with six runs. Hablewitz scored on an error. Brett Anschutz then singled to leftfield to send a run in. Brown walked to for a RBI. Brett Nelson was hit by a pitch to send another run in. Hablewitz singled to left field to send in a pair of runs.

Hablewitz led the Muskies going 3-4 from the plate with two RBI.

Zach Schmitz took the loss on the mound in seven innings of work.

The Muskies will play in their last game of the season tomorrow as they face Finlandia University. Game time is set for 1 p.m. in Escanaba, Mich.
