Mike Gappa hit a two-run double to break a 1-1 tie in the third inning, and Doug Mogenson pitched a complete game as the Muskies beat Lake Michigan Conference rival Concordia, 4-1, on Thursday afternoon.
Mogenson (2-4) threw 141 pitches, giving up just five hits in the complete game, striking out six and walking three.
The lone Concordia run came in the first inning and was unearned.
The Muskies (8-22-1) tied the game at one when Shane Hansen drove in Jon Bintner with a single. Gappa then ripped a line drive to left field that took an awkward bounce off the field and carried over left fielder Billy Bynum's outstretched glove.
Lakeland added another run in the eighth inning when Adam Hablewitz knocked in Brian Swanson, who singled then reached third on two wild pitches.
With the win, Lakeland moves ahead of Concordia in the LMC standings at 5-5. These two teams face each other again on Saturday in a doubleheader scheduled for a 12:00 p.m. start.
