Lakeland Wrestlers Take Down Vikings

Athletics - posted on 1/23/2008

The Lakeland College wrestling team continues to dominate the competition this season, as the Muskies steamrolled Lawrence University, 50-4, in a duel meet on Wednesday, Jan. 23, at Lakeland to move to 11-2-1 on the season.

Although Lakeland picked up four of its nine match victories off of forfeits, the squad lost only one individual match on the night to seize the win.

The victories were highlighted by the performances of senior Paul Hartt, ranked No. 4 in the nation in the 197-pound division, and sophomores Adam Sutter (HWT) and Jake Frias (165), as all three Muskies won their matches on pins with Frias taking down Lawrence's Chandler Bellanca in just 1:19.

Junior Jonas Flok also had a convincing victory in the 157 weight class, as he defeated the Vikings' Evan Neuens, 18-3, while junior Ben Chapman fought through to a close 5-4 decision in his favor at 149 pounds over Tony Norton.

The Muskies will move on to their next tough meet this Saturday, Jan. 26, as they travel to UW-Whitewater for the Border Duals.
