Muskie Wrestlers Narrowly Down MSOE

The Lakeland College wrestling team took advantage of key victories by senior Paul Hartt and sophomore Jake Frias to chalk up a close 22-20 victory over Milwaukee School of Engineering on Thursday, Feb. 7, in Milwaukee, Wis.

Hartt, ranked No. 3 in the nation in the 197-pound division, floored John Lemmer of MSOE, 19-4, while Frias (174) racked up a commanding 17-2 victory over Scott Ison.

Juniors David Copp and Kory Theil also picked up vital match wins, given how narrow the final result was. Copp was victorious in his 125-pound match, 6-5, over Sammy Deligio, while Theil tallied a 5-1 win in the 141 division over Virgil Pope.

The Muskies will continue meet action with the Northern Wrestling Association Tournament next Saturday, Feb. 16, at Maranatha Baptist Bible College. Meet start time is set for 10 a.m. in Watertown, Wis.
