The Muskies (7-8) were forced to recover early on in their match against Wheaton following a sound 30-12 loss in game one. However, the squad was able to collect itself to take the remaining games of the match, 30-28, 30-26, 30-22.
Senior middle hitter Shelly Bruni sparkled throughout the match, knocking down a team-high 13 kills on .600 hitting. Sophomore outside hitter Brittanie Paulus and sophomore middle hitter Kim Linger also contributed on offense with eight kills apiece, while Paulus also led the Muskies' defensive stand with 13 digs.
The team also fought closely with North Central to the very end of each of their games, but were unable to turn the corner in the end as they dropped each of them 31-29, 30-20, 30-28.
Paulus continued her strong showing with a team-high 11 kills, also adding eight digs. Senior outside hitter Ashley Domask paced the defense with 14 digs and chipped in five kills while sophomore defensive specialist Tonia Strebelinski also aided the defense with 13 digs.
