On Saturday the Lakeland College track team competed in the Wisconsin Lutheran Warrior Relays with both the men's and women's teams placing third overall. The women's team received 36 points, while the men received 56 points.
On the women's side, junior Jess Sparling placed fifth in the high jump at 1.22 meters. During the shot put, sophomore Gina Weiss had a ninth place finish with a distance of 7.42 meters. Juniors Jacqui Drexler and Maggie Short had first and second place finishes, respectively, in the 100 meter dash. Drexler had a time of 16.16, while Short had a time of 16.98. Freshman Hailey Wisner snagged a fifth place finish in the one mile run, with a final time of 6:24:42, and freshman Whitney Diedrich finished first in the 800 meter run, with a final time of 2:50:11.
On the men's side, three placed in the 100 meter dash. Trent Torzewski placed third, with a time of 13.00, Jake Frisch finished fourth, with a time of 13.37, and Brent Woodruff placed fifth, finishing at 13.96. During the done one mile run, Andrew Buffington placed second, finishing with a time of 5:10:44, and senior Mike Muhs placed third, with a time of 5:34:12. Buffington and Muhs placed in yet another event: the 800 meter run. Buffington finished first with a final time of 2:28:38, and Muhs finished second with a time of 2:34:05. In the high jump, freshman Trevor McKown walked away with a first place finish, with a final jump of 1.68 meters.
The team's next meet is scheduled for April 19 at Benedictine, in Lisle, Ill.
