The Lakeland College baseball team fell to 5-15 in the Northern Athletics Conference after dropping two games to Milwaukee School of Engineering, 7-5 and 13-5, on Sunday, April 27, at Lakeland.
Senior Nate Brusewitz took the mound for the Muskies in game one, throwing seven innings, giving up three runs on five hits while walking six and striking out five. Brusewitz was relieved by fellow senior Adam Hablewitz who finished the game giving up four runs on three hits while walking one and striking out one. In game two, junior Jake Van Camp was on the hill for the Muskies, throwing five innings and giving up three runs, two of which were earned on eight hits while walking two and striking out two.
In game one, the Muskies had 14 hits, and were led by sophomore Jake Heinemeyer and David and Doug Novak who had three hits apiece. In game two, the Muskies were led by junior Zach Hilbert who went two for four at the plate with two runs scored.
In the first game, both teams got on the board in the third with one run apiece. The Raiders then took the lead in the top of the fourth, but their lead was short-lived as the Muskies answered in the bottom half of the inning with two runs of their own to take the lead. The Muskies lead grew to two in the fifth when freshman Andy Schartner scored on a single by junior Adam Brown. The teams would again exchange one run apiece in the seventh. The Raiders would then score two runs in the each of the final two frames to take game one. Game two was a close 7-5 until the Raider's offense exploded for six runs in the top of the eighth inning to close out the scoring for the game.
The Muskies will next travel to Madison to face Edgewood College in their regular season finale on Saturday, May 3. First pitch is scheduled for Noon.
