Muskies defeated 4-0 by conference powerhouse Dominican

The Lakeland men's soccer team fell behind 3-0 in the first half en route to a 4-0 loss at Dominican University in River Forest, Ill.

The Stars (4-0 NAC, 4-2 overall), who have won the Northern Athletic Conference in each of the last two seasons, posted three goals in just over 30 minutes to put the Muskies away early.

"From the start, I think we gave them a little too much respect," Lakeland head coach David Madsen said. "We let the challenge overwhelm our thoughts and let them get off to a fast start."

Freshman midfielder Adam Benson (Anoka, Minn.) led the Muskie offensive attack with three shots, including one on goal.

"In the second half, we started to come alive, but it was just too late," Madsen said. "It might have been quite a different story if we had played like that in the first half as well."

Defensively, freshman goalkeeper Ross Soukup (Plymouth) registered eight saves for the Muskies (1-1, 1-4).

Lakeland returns to the field tomorrow at 2:30 p.m. to host Ripon College.
