The Lakeland women's volleyball team stayed hot on Wednesday night with a 3-0 sweep of Alverno College (2-20 overall, 0-8 NAC) in a Northern Athletics Conference match in Milwaukee.

After cruising to a 25-7 first-set win, Lakeland took the second 25-10 and closed the match with a 25-13 third set.

The Muskies (16-5, 9-0) have now won eight straight matches, including 12 of their last 13. The team's last loss came on Sept. 6 against the University of Chicago at the Sugarloaf Classic in Winona, Minn.

Freshman middle hitter Allison Davis (Sheboygan) paced the Muskie offensive attack, posting nine kills. Four other players tallied four kills or more up front for Lakeland. Senior setter Jessica Sparling (Addison, Ill.) and sophomore setter Kristine Raeder (Sheboygan Falls) recorded 14 assists apiece.

Defensively, the Muskies were led by junior outside hitter Brittanie Paulus (Belgium) and junior libero Tonia Strebelinski (Berlin), who had six digs apiece.

"We continue to play with good rhythm and confidence," Lakeland head coach Chad Schreiber said. "Hopefully that continues on our trip this weekend."

The team will depart for Los Angeles, Calif., tomorrow to play two matches on Friday and two on Saturday night at the La Verne & La Sierra Triangular. On Friday, the Muskies face the University of La Verne at 11 a.m., followed by a 4:30 p.m. match-up against Chapman University.
