Muskies place 9th at WLC Invitational

The Lakeland men's golf team placed ninth at the Wisconsin Lutheran College Invitational last Saturday and Sunday at the par-72, 6,943-yard Washington County Golf Course in Hartford.
Carthage College emerged as the tournament champion with a total of 582 strokes, finishing 30 strokes ahead of runner-up Benedictine.
The Muskies, who finished the weekend with a 640 (321-319), were led by freshman Gary Petit (Monroe), who carded a 156 (77-79) to finish in a tie for 21st place.
Freshman Ben Laubusch (Germantown) and sophomore Mike Ruzek (Manitowoc) finished a stroke behind Petit to tie for 24th. The two recorded identical rounds of 78 on Saturday to go with a 79 on Sunday for a total of 157.
Freshman Ben Luedtke (Freedom) finished tied for 60th with a two-round score of 170 (86-84) while freshman Brian Ballisteri (New Berlin) rounded out Muskie scoring with a 172 (88-84), good for a tie in 64th place.
The Muskies will head to the Bull at Pinehurst Farms in Sheboygan Falls on Tuesday to play in the 13th Annual Wombat Invitational hosted by UW-Sheboygan.
