The Lakeland softball team fell in both games of a Saturday doubleheader at the hands of LMC opponent Concordia, 2-0 and 7-6.
In game one, Sarah Rennicke pitched a three-hit shutout for Concordia as the Falcons got an RBI double from Angi Hilgendorf in the bottom of the fifth for the go ahead run.
Despite a quality game from pitcher Rachel Griesbach, who struck out nine while giving up only five hits, the Muskie offense was silent, advancing only one runner past first base.
Lakeland's bats heated up in game two, but it was there defense that doomed them.
Ahead 6-5 in the top of the seventh, the Muskies committed four errors that led to two Concordia runs.
Elisa Waltz went 3-4 with a run scored, and Katie Yeager batted 2-4 with two runs scored for Lakeland.
Griesbach took the loss in game two as well, giving up six earned runs in seven innings pitched, despite matching her strikeout total from game one.
Next up for Lakeland, who is now 3-5 in the LMC and 9-15 overall, is a doubleheader at Carthage on Monday.
