The No. 12 Lakeland men's volleyball team needed a fourth set, but defeated UW-La Crosse 25-15, 25-17, 18-25, 25-19 on Sunday afternoon in a Wisconsin Volleyball Conference match at Lakeland.
Senior outside hitter Joe Julkowski starred for Lakeland, collecting

15 kills and four service aces. The Carol Stream, Ill., native fueled runs in the first and fourth sets with his powerful jump serve.
"This was Joe's best match of the year," Lakeland coach Chad Schreiber said. "His serve receive was great, and let's just say his serve isn't something I'd want to pass myself."
The Muskies (9-2, 5-0 WVC) struggled in the third set, quickly falling behind 15-6 after cruising to wins in the two sets prior.
"Our serve receive broke down, and that really took away our focus," Schreiber said. "I made some subs at that point, and I think that may have changed the chemistry a little bit too much."
In addition to Julkowski, sophomore middle hitter Beau Bradshaw (Oak Lawn, Ill.) played a vital role for the Muskies, posting 13 kills and a .524 hitting percentage.
"Beau normally gets equal playing time in the middle, but it has increased due to some injuries up front," Schreiber said. "We've been working on his defense, but he is a very good offensive player, which he proved to us today."
Defensively, freshman libero Andrew Cheever (Milwaukee) registered 17 digs, while senior middle hitter Avdo Omerbegovic (Chicago) notched six blocks for Lakeland.
The Muskies return to action next Saturday and Sunday, Feb. 21-22, for the Hoosier-Illini Classic in Bloomington, Ind. Match times and opponents are to be determined.
