Lakeland wins fourth consecutive match

SHEBOYGAN - The Lakeland women's volleyball team responded to a less-than-stellar effort one day earlier with a solid 25-11, 25-18, 25-19 victory over Rockford in a Northern Athletics Conference match on Saturday afternoon at the Moose & Dona Woltzen Gymnasium.
The Muskies (13-4 overall, 5-0 NAC) have now won four straight contests and five of their last six.
Lakeland coach Chad Schreiber, who was not pleased with the team's effort in a 25-16, 25-22, 25-22 win at MSOE last night, said Saturday's match was better played by his squad.
"We played like a team licking our wounds, but we're heading in the right direction," Schreiber said.
Lakeland won 10 of the last 12 points in the first set and held the Regents (3-13, 1-4) in check for much of the match.
"Our serving was fantastic today," Schreiber said. "Our shot selection and contact were both way better. Those are two things that originally sent us into a tailspin."
Seniors Kim Linger (Eldorado, Wis.) and Brittanie Paulus (Belgium, Wis.) tallied eight kills apiece to lead the Muskies offensively. Linger also posted four service aces, bringing her team-leading season total to 32.
Defensively, Paulus had 17 digs, while junior Kristine Raeder (Oostburg, Wis.) registered 13 digs in addition to a team-high 27 assists.
The Muskies begin a three-match conference road trip this Tuesday, Oct. 6, at Concordia, Wis. Match time is set for 7 p.m. in Mequon.
