Muskies slow out of the gates in blowout loss

MEQUON, Wis. - The Lakeland men's basketball team suffered an 82-48 loss Wednesday at Concordia, Wis., in a Northern Athletics Conference showdown.

The Muskies (10-12 overall, 7-7 NAC) fell behind 18-0 and didn't score their first points until just before the 12-minute mark. Lakeland shot just 23.6 percent from the field, including 11.5 percent in the first half, and turned it over 21 times in the contest.

Concordia (13-9, 9-5), which sits atop the NAC North Division, shot 55.1 percent in the game and took a 44-11 advantage into the half. The Falcons led by as many as 46 points in the dominating effort.

Junior forward Trevor McKown (Hot Springs, S.D.) scored a career-best 15 points to go along with a team-high seven rebounds. Freshman guard P.J. Marion (Milwaukee, Wis.) added eight points and three assists.

Sophomore forward Jake Schwarz (Sheboygan, Wis.), who entered the game as the league's leading scorer, was held scoreless in 15 minutes of action.

Lakeland returns to action Saturday against Marian at 4:15 p.m. in its final regular season home contest. Guard Khendal Andrews (Kankakee, Ill.) will be recognized prior to the game on Senior Day.
