Muskies split at UW-Whitewater

The Lakeland women's volleyball team responded from a two-sets-to-one deficit to outlast St. Ambrose (Iowa) 15-25, 25-14, 23-25, 26-24, 16-14 in the team's second match on Friday at the UW-Whitewater Invitational.
The Muskies (19-11) lost in their first match of the day to regionally-ranked UW-Platteville 25-19, 20-25, 25-21, 25-22.
Against St. Ambrose, Lakeland received a stellar performance from senior middle hitter Kim Linger. The Eldorado, Wis., native fell two kills shy of the school record for one match with 23, posting a stellar .537 hitting percentage.
Sophomore middle hitter Allison Davis (Sheboygan, Wis.) recorded 15 kills, while senior outside hitter Brittanie Paulus (Belgium, Wis.) paced the defense with 19 digs as four players tallied 12 digs or more in the contest.
Against UW-Platteville, Paulus finished with team highs in kills (13) and digs (14).
Junior setter Kristine Raeder (Sheboygan Falls, Wis.) totaled 87 assists in the two matches.
Tomorrow, the Muskies face No. 6 UW-Whitewater at 10 a.m. and Millikin (Ill.) at 2 p.m.
