The Lakeland women's volleyball team finished 1-1 on the first day of the Thunder Invitational Tournament at Wheaton College in Wheaton, Ill.
Lakeland knocked off tournament host Wheaton 19-25, 25-27, 25-22, 25-22, 15-12 in the team's second match of the night.
"Defensively, we were very good," Lakeland coach Chad Schreiber said. "We were below average on offense, serving and serve receive, but our defense and hustle kept us in the match against Wheaton."
The Muskies (9-3, 2-0 Northern Athletics Conference) suffered a 25-23, 25-23, 25-19 defeat in the first tournament match against No. 16 UW-Eau Claire.
"We have enough talent to where we could have won both matches," Schreiber said.
Statistics for both matches are unavailable at this time. Check back on Sunday for complete stats.
Tomorrow, Lakeland takes on North Central at 10 a.m., followed by a showdown against NAC foe Edgewood at 12 p.m.
