Depleted Muskie women lose second in Minnesota
Athletics - posted on 9/5/2010
The Lakeland women's soccer team lost is third straight game to St. Mary's 7-0 in Winona, Minn., Sunday afternoon.
The Muskies continue to be depleted by injuries and only played with 10 players as junior midfielder Ashley Meyer (Hinckley, Ill.) and freshman defender Monica Santelli (Pleasant Prairie, Wis.) watched from the sidelines.
Despite the lack of numbers, head coach Tony Pierce likes the girls effort and is excited to move forward.
"With injuries mounting, we were only able to play 10 again," said head coach Tony Pierce. "The girls put forth a strong effort. This week we should get Meyer back and are looking at adding players to the roster, we should be more competitive. The girls are giving everything they have, I give them all credit for being here."
Lakeland plays its home opener on Thursday, Sept. 9, when they host Mount Mary at 4:30 p.m.
