MEQUON, Wis.-- The Lakeland College women's soccer team suffered a tough 7-0 loss to Concordia Wis., in Northern Athletics Conference play in the Muskies last game of the season.
In a windy afternoon, Lakeland found themselves behind the eight ball being down 2-0 at half. Concordia Wis., peppered the Muskies goal and scored five times in the second half to give the Falcons the undisputed win.
Emily Waldorf scored a hat trick to lead the Falcons, who earned the fifth seed in the NAC tournament and will play Edgewood College on Sunday, Oct. 31.
Freshman goalkeeper Ashley Sarbacker (Middleton, Wis.) recorded nine saves, ending the season with142.
Lakeland ends its season 5-14 overall, 4-8 in the NAC. Head coach Tony Pierce is proud of the team and pleased with the senior's efforts this season.
"The girls played hard," said Pierce. "We played under tough conditions, but the team never gave up and battled the entire 90 minutes of the game. I give a lot of credit for the effort the girls put forth, especially our seniors."
Junior midfielder Kristina Borts (Milwaukee, Wis.) lead the team this season with 10 goals and eight assists. Junior forward Lindsay Rogers (Sheboygan, Wis.) ended the season second in goals with nine, while adding three assists. Junior midfielder Dana Schmidt (Menasha, Wis.) was third on the team, capping seven goals.
"We look forward to next year and we will continue to work hard in the off season," said Pierce.
