Men's soccer ties Benedictine
Athletics - posted on 9/11/2010
The Lakeland men's soccer team battled the Eagles of Benedictine University to a zero to zero tie in the Northern Athletics Conference opener Saturday afternoon.
The Muskies and Eagles relentlessly battled each other, but neither could capitalize on their opportunities to score.
"After losing at home on Wednesday the guys regrouped and didn't want to see that happen again," said head coach Tony Pierce. "We wanted to capitalize on our home field advantage. The guys battled and played real well, but unfortunately we weren't able to put anything away."
The Muskies defense did a tremendous job and the team is improving and getting into a rhythm with each game.
"It was a tremendous effort by our guys and also by Benedictine. They played hard and fortunately for us, weren't able to score either," said Pierce.
The Muskies return to action Thursday, Sept. 16 at North Central University in Illinois. Start time is 7 p.m.
