The Lakeland men's soccer team dropped a 2-1 decision against Dominican University in Northern Athletics Conference play Saturday afternoon in River Forest, Ill.
The Muskies (0-7-2) battled hard and kept the Stars scoreless in the first half.
"The guys played really well and gained a lot of respect from their opponents," said head coach Tony Pierce.
After a 0-0 score at halftime, Domimincan scored in the 76th minute of game to take the lead, 1-0. The Stars were able to score again and the Muskies found themselves down 2-0 with 15 minutes left to play.
With just four minutes left to play, junior forward Ben Koepsell (Cedar Grove, Wis.) found the back of the Stars net to make it a 2-1 game.
Lakeland peppered Dominican's goal, but couldn't get anything to fall in the last three minutes.
Sophomore goalkeeper Alex Pierkarski (Menasha, Wis.) played tremendously and made 11 saves for the Muskies.
The Muskies return to action Tuesday, Sept. 28 in a NAC match against Concordia-Wis. Game time is 4:30 p.m.
