MILWAUKEE, Wis.--The Lakeland College men's soccer team beat Wisconsin Lutheran College, 5-4 in Northern Athletics Conference action Saturday evening.
Lakeland scored five first half goals and found themselves up 5-2 at half. Junior forward Ben Koepsell (Cedar Grove, Wis.) scored in the 13th minute to tie the game, 1-1, after Wisconsin Lutheran's Trevor Schwartz scored in the 10th minute.
After Koepsell's goal, the Muskies found the back of the net four more times. Koepsell capped two goals and an assist, while junior forward Jeremy Hardy (Cooks, Mich.) added two goals as well.
Also scoring for Lakeland was junior midfielder Adam Benson (Anoka, Minn.), who also added an assist.
Wisconsin Lutheran battled back in the second half, scored two goals and left the Muskies on their toes. The Lakeland defense was able to keep the Warriors from a tie and prevailed.
Head coach Tony Pierce was pleased with the team's first half efforts.
"Not our best effort in the second half," said Pierce. "Luckily we were able to settle down in the last 15 minutes and ice the game."
Lakeland returns to NAC action on Tuesday, Oct. 13 against Edgewood College in Madison, Wis. Game time is 7 p.m.
